Check-in and room sharing arrangements

Prepare for your stay by understanding the room-sharing rules, single-occupancy fees, and accommodation facilities.

Can I share a room if I register alone? How much does it cost to stay in a single room?

Solo travelers may join a shared group; we will prioritize arranging room-sharing with a traveler of the same gender. If a roommate match is successfully arranged, no additional accommodation fee applies. However, if a suitable roommate cannot be found—or if you prefer a private room—you will be required to pay a single supplement. The single supplement is £50 per night for the "Classic Highlands 3-Day Tour" and £70 per night for the "In-depth Highlands 3-Day Tour" (covering two nights of accommodation). You may choose to sign up while waiting for a potential roommate match, but please note that availability depends on actual bookings, so a successful match cannot be guaranteed. If a match is not found, you will need to pay the single supplement to secure a private room.

What amenities are provided? What should I bring?

Accommodation typically provides bath towels, hair dryers, shampoo, shower gel, and kettles. Most accommodations in Scotland do not provide disposable items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and slippers; guests are advised to bring their own.

Things to know before you travel

Get a head start on understanding the Highlands weather, clothing options, common UK payment methods, and expected expenses during your trip.

What's the weather like in the Scottish Highlands? What clothes should I pack?

Scotland's weather is unpredictable; even in summer, you may experience strong winds, rain, and low wind chill. It's recommended to bring a windproof and waterproof jacket, warm clothing, comfortable sneakers or hiking boots, and rain gear. A detailed packing checklist is also available; click on the blog at the bottom of the official website homepage and then check the travel tips.

What are the common payment methods in the UK? How much does a meal cost approximately? What are some additional charges?

Most merchants in the UK accept bank cards and contactless payments. Visa, Mastercard, and Apple Pay are accepted in almost all supermarkets, restaurants, attractions, and shops. Cash is less common; it's recommended to carry a small amount of pounds as a backup.

Some Chinese-owned businesses and travel services accept WeChat Pay, but local UK merchants typically do not support WeChat or Alipay. It's advisable to prepare a bank card that can be used overseas.

Dining prices in the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye are generally higher than the UK average: Light meals such as coffee and sandwiches: approximately £5-10 per person; Main meals such as fish and chips and burgers: approximately £10-20 per person; Restaurant meals: approximately £20-30 per person; Suggested daily dining budget: £30-50 per person. The tour price includes all transportation, Chinese-speaking driver and guide service, and two nights' accommodation. There are no hidden costs. Additional costs mainly include: Personal meals and shopping expenses; Eleanor Castle entrance fee (approximately £13 per person); Personal travel insurance; Single room supplement (if single occupancy required); Whisky distillery tour (if optional).

Itinerary and sightseeing arrangements

Understand the daily meal arrangements, dining options along the way, and stop times at attractions and meeting rules.

When are meals served each day? Are there any restaurant recommendations along the route?

The driver and guide will arrange meal times based on the day's itinerary, typically stopping in the town of Portree, Fort William, or near the visitor center. Local restaurants, cafes, fish and chips shops, and supermarkets are available along the way.

How long will the stop at each attraction be? What are the meeting times?

The product itinerary list PDF sent by customer service before departure will detail the attractions visited. The driver and guide will flexibly arrange stop times and meeting times based on traffic, weather, and visitor flow at attractions. Please return on time according to the meeting time to ensure the smooth progress of the subsequent itinerary. We will try our best to ensure that each guest has ample time to enjoy the scenery and take photos, rather than rushing.

Return trip and disembarkation arrangements

Please check the estimated end time of the tour, as well as information on drop-off services at Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow.

What time does the tour end on the last day? Can I book a train or flight for the same day?

The tour is expected to return to Edinburgh city centre around 6:00 PM on the third day. Due to the long distances in the Scottish Highlands, weather, traffic conditions, and time spent at attractions can all affect the actual arrival time, so we cannot guarantee an exact arrival time. If you need to book a train, bus, or flight for the same day, we recommend allowing ample transfer time and confirming the itinerary with the driver/guide in advance.

Can I drop off at Edinburgh Airport or Glasgow? Are there any extra charges?

Yes. If passengers need to drop off at Edinburgh Airport or Glasgow, we will charge a transport service fee of £35 or £100 per trip respectively. Please confirm with the driver/guide in advance during the tour if you have any special drop-off requests.
